The success of mobile messaging
The mobile messaging market has grown to massive proportions since it was first used for commercial purposes in the late 1990s.
SMS messaging has proved to be one of the major technological successes of the last three years, enjoying phenomenal growth and with good reason. Virtually everyone has a mobile phone and text messaging is highly popular. Making the best use of this already in-hand technology is just good business sense.
In a recent study 48 per cent of adults questioned* said that after voice calls, they use the SMS feature more than any other on their phone. Usage is set to grow by 17 per cent in 2005-2006. It's not surprising that businesses have cottoned on to SMS a business tool, with 36% of people receiving business text messages from a customer or a client. Here are some of the key reasons why.
