Chris Jones, Managing Director of PageOne, provided an assessment of the critical messaging market in the light of the recent reports from the 7/7 Committee and London Resilience Forum. Conference debated the use of both SMS and paging technologies to provide critical messaging in times of national or local emergencies, and agreed with many of the reports conclusions.

As of today, British soldiers, their superiors and their families will all be able to communicate using a technology most of us take for granted – SMS text messaging. The two-waytext messaging service will be run through ArmyNET, the Army’s secure web portal, (www.armynet.mod.uk) and is provided by PageOne, the UK’s foremost supplier of wireless SMS messaging technology and services.

The session titled: ‘Addressing the Challenges for Mobile Messaging in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Management Applications’ outlined the role of SMS critical messaging within organisations dealing with business continuity planning. The presentation also explained why SMS messaging has become part of many organisations’ communication plans.
